Here is a checklist for you as your prepare for school.
Don’t forget to label everything so it doesn’t get misplaced or used by another child:
Label your child’s:-
- School Bag (make sure it can fit and A4 Folder)
- Mesh storage folders
- Scissors
- Pencil case and please put the twistables into it (label each twistable individually)
- Uniform and tracksuit including any coat or jacket
- Resuable drinking bottle
- Lunch box
- Velcro/easy latch shoes only, no laces
We have a healthy eating policy in the school, please ensure your child has a healthy lunch each day (no chocolate, biscuits,Nutella)
Small Break: Fruit, chopped vet, yogurt, cheese)
Big Break: A sandwich, roll, wrap, pitta bread, bap, crackers with healthy fillings such as ham, cheese, chicken, pasta, rice etc
A refillable screw top bottle with water, milk or diluted cordial is advised for a drink. Please make sure that your child can open every item you put in their lunch box. For example, yoghurt drink lid, peel their orange, open packets.
- Before coming to school your child should be toilet trained.
- Get your child to practice opening and closing their new school uniform
- Speak to your child about hygiene and handwashing
- Make sure your child can recognise their own coat, schoolbag, lunchbox, bottle etc.,
- Practice putting on and taking off and opening/closing jumpers and coats
- Get your child to help tidy up at home.
A few things you can do with your child at home to help them get ready for school:
- Teach your child nursery rhymes, songs and poems
- Read to your child each night
- Encourage your child to draw, write and colour
- Give your child some practice with a scissors (cut out shapes, cut along a straight or z-g-zag line)
